All in Quick Guide

TIME TO PACK YOUR RAVE BAG

I am a big fan of weekender bags. I have always liked having them, but since I started going to events for two or three days, I have really fallen in love with these babies. Packing your rave gear is always enough of a struggle without having to lug around a giant suitcase, which is why weekender bags are so perfect. You get enough space to comfortably put a few days worth of outfits without feeling like you are packing for a year-long voyage, and their smaller size also limits you and stops you from bringing non-essentials with you, which if you are an over packer like me, also has its benefits.

HOW TO AVOID HANGOVERS AFTER A NIGHT OF RAGING

So I am the champion at avoiding hangovers, but even I have unfortunately been hit with one or two on occasion. There is nothing worse than going a little too hard day one of a festival and then feeling like absolute trash day two. Yeah, you will recover but it is going to be a few hours of hell before you feel well again, and nobody wants that. I know everyone has there own little theories about how to prevent them, but it never hurts to try and gather as many in one places as you possibly can. Keeping that in mind, today I wanted to walk you through a few foolproof ways to avoid waking up with a pounding headache feeling like death after a long night of clubbing or raving.

RAVE BAE?

Let’s talk about’ Rave Baes,’ the strangest things I have encountered since I started raving and something I think it is worth talking about with CRUSH and Valentines day coming up. In this article I talked a little about what rave baes are, how you get one, and even a few of my own ‘rave bae’ experiences.

RAVE ETIQUETTE: A PRIMER

Hey guys, so I wanted to take some time to talk about everybody's favorite topic: etiquette. I decided to take a moment to write about this one because I have had a million conversations with my friends about some of the horrible behavior we have been seeing at festivals recently and then following probably the most annoying night ever at a show recently.

LATE NIGHT WAREHOUSE PARTIES ARE THE BEST

I have wanted to do a post about warehouse parties for some time, but I have struggled to figure out a point of attack because there are probably a million things I could say about them, so I decided that I will be doing a series of articles on Late Nights and Warehouse parties (there will be one about desert raves as well so get pumped for that). So to kick off this little series I want to just talk a little bit about the experience of attending one of these fantastic events.

LAST MINUTE SNOW GLOBE 2018 CHECKLIST

Snow Globe 2018 is almost here, and it’s time to make sure you have everything you need to rock the night away without freezing your butt off the entire time. There has been a lot of snow on the ground in Lake Tahoe, so we all need to be ready for a cold one. Though we still have a few days left before we all need to get in our cars, trains, or planes and head up to Tahoe, it is essential to make sure you have everything you need ready to go so that you don’t end up forgetting something important on the way out.

MAKING YOUR FIRST RAVE TOTEM

At a festival, it helps to have something that can be spotted over a long distance, easily and quickly. In the lead up to Snow Globe, my friends and I decided that we were going to make a totem so that we could find one another in the crowd. I wanted to share a little about our experience and some ideas to make sure your totem is not only super cool but easy to stop across a large crowd.

DON'T GET LOCKED OUT BY 'SOLD OUT' FESTIVAL TICKETS

A few weeks ago Electric Forest tickets went on sale, and within the first few hours were gone entirely, much to the irritation of thousands of people who had wanted to have their shot at going to this amazing event in the summer. Scrolling through the comments on the Electric Forrest Instagram after the sell out was incredibly illuminating. There were hundreds of comments left by people who were unable to get a ticket, and one thing was obvious: they were pissed. So, I decided to put together a few little tips to ensure that this never happens to you again,

RAVES AND PACIFIERS

I have a weird fixation on pacifiers in rave culture. This interest began when I started to notice a trend of including iconography of and actual pacifiers on jewelry, clothing, and other gear sold at DOLLS KILL, which is you haven’t figured it out already, is my favorite retailer. As a so-called ‘new-school’ raver, this was my first introduction to them having only ever noticed one or two at an actual event. However, once I started looking for them when I went to events I started to notice more and more people with one little string around their neck as more than just a fashion statement.

FESTIVAL LOCKERS, AND WHY YOU NEED ONE

If you have been debating getting a locker for your next festival, I would highly recommend going ahead and doing it! It is incredibly useful, and even though it may seem like something you can do without, I can attest to the fact that it will enhance your festival experience. Until you have gone to an event and been able to ditch everything you didn’t want to carry, you haven’t truly been enjoying life to the fullest (no, I’m not even exaggerating).

RECOVERING FROM A FESTIVAL

So, You made it to the end of the weekend! Maybe it was one day, maybe you had four days and three nights of fun. Either way, now it is time to get back to the real world, and that means recovering from whatever you may have indulged in. While everyone recovers differently, here are a few things you can do to make the transition back into the normal world a little less painful.

KEEPING THE SQUAD TOGETHER

Festivals can be chaotic. It’s easy to underestimate just how easy it can be to lose track of your friends in the crowd. All it takes is for one person to be distracted when the group gets moving, or for one person to wander off, or maybe just get swept away in the current of the crowd. Depending on your personality, getting separated can either be the most awesome experience, or it can be a panic attack inducing nightmare. Either way, it helps to have a few strategies in mind so that if someone gets lost, you won’t have to spend the entire night trying to find them.

THE BATHROOM SITCH'

The bathroom situation at most events (especially outdoor ones) can be kind of rough. It really doesn’t matter how nice the venue is. If there are ports potties and thousands of people using them, after a certain point in the evening it’s going to get kind of nasty (sorry, but it’s true). So, with that in mind here is a little list of things you can do to try and make it not the worst experience ever when you are finally forced to hit the porta potties at your next event.

A QUICK GUIDE TO PLUR

If you are new to the world of festivals, you might have been a little confused the first time you saw someone decked out in what looked like a bunch of friendship bracelets you made at summer camp as a kid. It probably seemed even stranger when you saw them trade bracelets after doing what looks like a secret handshake. Yeah, it may seem a little odd at first, but trading Kandi and the PLUR spirit are two of the things that makes this culture so magical. Let's start with the basics.
