FESTIVAL LOCKERS, AND WHY YOU NEED ONE

FESTIVAL LOCKERS, AND WHY YOU NEED ONE

Lockers. I had to admit I was a little skeptical about renting a locker the first time I realized it was an option. I like to have all of my stuff readily available, and the thought of leaving my things alone somewhere on a massive festival ground was a little daunting. Then there was the price tag. For two days the lockers at Escape Psycho Circus this year were about 35 dollars not including the small fee I needed to pay for the online transaction.

Yeah, maybe that doesn’t sound to bad, but after you’ve paid for your tickets, shuttles/Uber/Lyft, outfits and everything else it takes to make it the rave, adding another 35 dollars feels like a lot, but if you, like me, are looking at the price and thinking “not at all worth it,” let me persuade you.

  1. YOU CAN DITCH YOUR STUFF

I mean that is really the biggest benefit of the locker. Even if you have the endurance of an Olympic athlete, carrying around a bulky coat and that new t-shirt you bought can be exhausting. As a SoCal based raver I know the struggle of dressing for the scorching days and freezing nights pretty well, but sometimes lugging around my faux fur coat that I won’t need until about two hours from the end of the festival for hours just isn’t worth it. The locker takes away all of that hassle. If I need my coat, I can run and grab it, if I don’t, then it can stay safely out of the way.

  2. YOU CAN CHARGE YOUR PHONE

Yeah, portable chargers are great, but if you are a complete disaster like me and sometimes forget to bring them (or charge them), it is awesome to have a place to charge up your phone without worrying about it. Even if you have a power pack, it doesn’t hurt to have a backup in case you lose it, break it, or it dies early on in the evening.

  3. YOU CAN LOCK IT

Duh. You can lock your stuff up, but there is nothing like the security of knowing your stuff is safe and sound while you’re wandering around. As someone who is notorious from dropping things out of their fanny pack, it is awesome to know that there is zero chance of losing my ID or anything else of value that I brought with me.

So! If you have been debating getting a locker for your next festival, I would highly recommend going ahead and doing it! It is incredibly useful, and even though it may seem like something you can do without, I can attest to the fact that it will enhance your festival experience. Until you have gone to an event and been able to ditch everything you didn’t want to carry, you haven’t truly been enjoying life to the fullest (no, I’m not even exaggerating).

If the price is really an issue, I would suggest splitting the bill between your group. If you really put your mind to it, you can manage to shove a lot of stuff into a locker or two, and after all, sharing is caring.
