SHOP FLUFFY: SHOP THE RAINBOW

So, now that the sun is shining here in LA I thought what better way to bring back the blog posts then with my favorite thing to do on here: a shopping guide. Today I wanted to pull together some of my favorite pieces from the indie brand 'Shop Fluffy," A UK based fashion company run by one of my style icons @Lulutrixabelle, whom you should go and check out on Instagram when you get a second. Her style is always on point and she also has one of the most aesthetic feeds I have ever seen.

SHOULD YOU BUY FROM RAVE WEAR BRAND COPYCATS?

In recent months I feel like every time I scroll through my feed I have about twenty promoted posted shoved down my throat by Instagram ads. The first to catch my eye was one that looked like an add for a LIPT Lable bodysuit. At first, I just thought it was a new product, but on closer inspection, I noticed that it was being marketed by a different company. When I followed the link to their page, I saw a number of copycat items, all of which were poor quality knock-offs of LIPT Label shorts and bodysuits. As you would most likely guess the prices they were charging for these knock-offs was far lower than that of the originals, and given that the account had a decent number of followers I am sure other people had taken notice as well.

THE DOLLS KILL SAMPLE SALE AND BUYING SECOND HAND RAVEGEAR

In case you somehow missed it, Dolls Kill had a sample sale this weekend, and it was insane. If you watched their story, you could see people lining up for blocks down Fairfax, and apparently, some people even camped out to get a shot at being first in line, which is you saw the prices made perfect sense. Dolls Kill, in an attempt to Clea your extra inventory before going into the build-up to this year’s festival season decided to throw a two-day sample sale where you could buy everything from boots to body jewels are crazy low prices. On the second day, there were selling all shoes for only twenty dollars a pair, which is beyond a steal seeing as 'cheap' shoes at Dolls Kill usually means you are getting something for seventy dollars.

TAKING A BREAK FROM DOLLSKILL: TIBBS & BONES

I think you all know that I go hard in the paint for Dolls Kill, but recently I have started trying to turn attention towards other places for us festival fashionistas looking to bring something a little bit different into our closets to check out. This is how I discovered what I can only describe as Dolls Kill's badass Australian cousin who is always slaying wherever she goes. I am talking about Tibbs & Bones, an Australian company that sells everything you need for festival season and even some things you didn't know you needed, but definitely do.

TAKING YOUR FESTIVAL BRAIDS TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH KANEKALON

Has anyone seen the Instagram account @hairwithlinda? If you haven’t, please close this window, open up Instagram and just take a look, because she is making all of us look like complete failures when it comes to festival hair. Ever since I discovered the account I have been unable to stop trying to figure out how she crafts the amazing, brightly colored, festival hairstyles that cover the entirety of her picture-perfect feed, I have been obsessed with trying to bring some of her extra style to my own outfits. As I have mentioned a few times before, festival fashion for some of us, is more of a way of life than anything else, but even when you have found the most amazing outfit, done your makeup and thrown on your platforms, figuring out what to do with your hair can be somewhat of a challenge. For most of us it just makes more sense to pull our hair back in the classic ‘festival' braids’ and call it a day, but honestly, after seeing the magic Linda Ha is making, it honestly feels like that just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

HOW HDBNGR RVWR IS SHAKING UP FESTIVAL FASHION

Lexi Williams, the 25-year-old designer, and headbanger behind the startup rave fashion brand “HDBNGR RVWR,” is going to take the festival scene by storm. Born and raised in New York city she has been raving for years and recently decided that I was time to bless the rest of us with some of her awesome designs so we can rage along with her. She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology and graduated with a BFA in Advertising design where she focused on illustrator and photoshop, but fashion was always on her mind. She decided to create the HDBNGR RVWR after a chance meeting with one of her favorite artists during his New York show.

ROCKING PASTIES AT A RAVE

In case you haven’t noticed by now, in the lead up to CRUSH Southern California I have been focusing specifically on valentines themed topics and shopping guides, and this one isn’t really going to be an exception. I hope you like pink. am a massive fan of pasties, and honestly, I don’t feel like they have gotten enough attention on here, so I wanted to take a moment to correct that. Pasties are basically the perfect rave accessory/ clothing item because they can be a piece of clothing by themselves or styled to accent one and take it to the next level.

DRESSING LIKE A RAVER AT CLUBS

Today I wanted to talk a little bit about dressing like a raver when you go to normal clubs. So this is something that I do all the time. Pretty much every single weekend I go out actually. However, I didn’t always feel comfortable enough with myself to wear some of the stuff that feels a little bit more ‘out there’ in more of a normal setting.

THE SUGAR THRILLZ VALENTINES DAY COLLECTION

Well, I couldn’t help myself. When I saw this collection drop on the Dolls Kill website, I knew I needed to have all of it. Thankfully I stopped myself from buying every single thing from the collection, but I did pick up quite a few pieces, and honestly, I couldn’t be happier with them. So I wanted to take some time to review the collection for those of you who may be on the fence about picking up some of the pretty pastel goodies.

DEMONIA PLATFORMS, WORTH IT?

I one hundred percent believe that Demonia Platforms are entirely worth the price tag. I know, I usually try and lead you into thinking these articles could go either way, but in this case, I really have nothing negative to say. I am the proud order of several pairs of Demonia Platforms, and though they were somewhat of an investment (as they are a little more expensive than some of the options out there), they have not disappointed. So, I wanted to break down a few reasons Demonia Platforms are the perfect purchase, and if you have been on the fence, you should go for it.

THE HOLOGRAPHIC FESTIVAL FASHION EDIT

Hologram has been slowly but surely making a comeback and it isn’t hard to see why. The pearly, slightly white color looks fantastic on everyone no matter what their skin color, which is always a plus. As someone on the tan side of skin tones it is always nice to see colors that look great on more than one person come into style. So…without further ado, here are some of my favorite holographic looks of the year so far.

FESTIVAL BRAIDS AND CULTURAL APPROPRIATION

Festival fashion has had a frankly horrible relationship with cultural appropriation if we are honest with ourselves. I think we have all seen enough pictures of white people in so-called ‘tribal’ fashion and headdresses to know that there seems to be a lack of consideration that goes along with dressing for festivals. Not only is a lot of this offensive, but it also gave no actual credit to the tribes from which the styles were taken. It is more often than not a vague approximation of styles which carry real weights and significance to the people who created them. While seeing someone who really shouldn’t be wearing a ceremonial headdress is something everyone can agree is not alright, when it comes to appropriation of black hairstyles there has been relative silence from the festival fashion community.

HOW TO RAVE IN PLATFORMS

I recently made the leap and bought a pair of Demonia Platforms. I had wanted a pair of these ridiculously awesome shoes for a long time, and I must say that they truly did not disappoint. They were even cooler then they had looked in the hundreds of pictures I had gone through before finally deciding to purchase them. It goes almost without saying that they are probably the coolest thing I have ever seen, but they are astonishingly comfortable, especially given the height of the platforms. However, when it came to wearing them for long periods, there was some work that needed to be done to make it a little easier.

CLUB EXX IS KILLING THE WINTER FASHION GAME

This week has been a particularly chilly one in Los Angeles, which combined with some beautiful pictures of a snow-dusted Lake Tahoe got me once again thinking about Snow Globe, which I will be attending in a few weeks. Mostly, it got me thinking about my outfits. However, when the Snow Globe wristbands come with a warning to wear thermals and waterproof boots, the usual bikini bottoms and pasties aren’t going to cut it. Thankfully, the Club Exx Snow Globe and Winter range has to become of the most amazing winter festival fashion I have seen.

ADDING ACCESSORIES TO YOUR RAVE LOOK

Accessorizing is hard. Even when It comes to average, everyday looks, finding the perfect necklace, belt or really anything can become a pretty tricky guessing game. When I first started putting together festival looks, I would always struggle to find accessories to take it from a look to a LOOK. The hardest thing about dressing for a festival is that you need to find the right mix of style and function. Even if you aren’t big into dancing aggressively, you will still need to be able to walk, and hell if a real banger starts playing, don’t you want to have the option to dance without stuff getting in the way?

YOU NEED A FAUX FUR RAVE COAT

You need a faux fur rave coat. You may not think you need one, but you defiantly do. The faux fur coat is a staple of the festival fashion wardrobe for a few reasons, and as we move into winter (and eventually the early spring festival season) now is the perfect time to invest in one. A good fur coat is going to keep you warm at night when the temperature drops, but it is also a perfect way to make a boring outfit look amazing.

UP YOUR RAVE HAIR GAME

If you are anything like me, you are probably really good at picking out a fantastic outfit, but then have zero ideas what to do with your hair. If you are literally me, then instead of attempting anything you say “oh I'll just leave it down, because that will be fine,” only to realize when your hair looks like a disaster in every single photo from the event, that it was definitely not fine. Because I am tired of having a good picture ruined with bad hair, I have decided to do some research into how we can all up our rave hair game.
