POST FESTIVAL SKIN DETOX
As all my festival addicted babes know it can be really tough on your skin to be out in the sun for hours at a summer event. Even though I am very aware of sun damage and do everything I can during the festival to try and protect my skin, I still often walk away from day events with bumpy, sun irritated skin. So, in this post, I wanted to run through a few little tips for keeping your skin safe during the festival and for refreshing it afterward.
IF YOU ARE GOING TO BE OUT IN THE SUN, WEAR SUNSCREEN!
You should really be wearing sunscreen every day, but if you are going to be dancing around in the sun all day, it is incredibly essential you wear sunscreen. I always try and make sure I not only use sunscreen but also apply makeup products that have some SPF included as well, to really double up on my skin protection.
BRING A HAT
Yeah, it sucks to throw off the flow of your outfit with a baseball cap (me at every festival), but having some sort of hat to protect your face from the sun is always a good idea. If you want, you can even try and find a cute hat or two to match your outfit. For my psychedelic space babes, I would recommend checking out Neon Cowboys and their sick illuminated cowboy hats.
POST FESTIVAL
Make sure to keep your skin hydrated with a gentle face wash. If your skin is irritated from sun damage you don’t want to go in with a harsh cleanser, trust me it isn’t fun. I like to use my La Roche-Posay gentle moisturizing face wash.
If you peel after spending to much time in the sun like me, it also helps to use a hydrating sheet mask every few days until your skin is back to normal. I really like the neutropenia hydrating masks. They are really reasonable, and they leave your skin looking silky and super fresh.
HYDRATE
Is it even a festival post if I don’t talk about hydration? Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and just like everything else, it needs water to function at its best. Make sure you are hydrating your skin from the inside as well the outside after spending time the sun.
MASK IT UP
I already mentioned my favorite hydration mask, but it also never hurts to throw on a soothing mask after spending a little too long in the sun. There are lots of options available to soothe any redness you might have available.
TAKE A BREAK
Make sure to get plenty of rest and go easy on your self. Your body is always going to function best when you are well-rested and have the nutrients you need to recover. Have a green smoothie maybe with some collagen powder thrown in to promote skin health, take a nap, soak in the tub.
I hope this has been a little bit helpful, and I am so glad to be back to posting. Keep up with the blog on Instagram where I will be letting you guys know about the posting schedule and some of the cool things I have planned for the rest of this year and into 2020.
