MARSHA
Taken at Secret Project by Factory 93 in DTLA
Marsha, 27
A California native, Marsha is a veteran raver. When she isn’t tearing it up at the techno stage, she is a full-time student majoring in Hospitality management. The quote she lives her life by is “Never stop exploring.”
What was your first rave?
Oh man. I would attend alot of smaller events back in 2008 (in LA parking lots or at the Hudson in San Bernardino) , but my FIRST "massive " I guess you can say was sneaking into EDC L.A in 2008, Saturday night. Omg I convinced these 2 cops to let my friends and I inside. I was smooth! At that time it wasn't 18+ so little me was determined to get inside because I was broke and it was sold out . Girls have the power to do anything ! Lol
When did you first discover your love for EDM?
Benny Benassi's song Satisfaction ! Lol In high school I would also go to Hollywood on Tuesdays or Thursday to The Arena and it was an all ages club that played EDM. I'm old school, I've seen it all haha
Who is your favorite artist at the moment?
Oh wow, I have a few. I guess it depends on my mood. I love Duke Dumont, Eric Prydz, ANNA, Jeremy Olander. I guess my #1 though happens to be Lane 8. This man is a genius. Shout out to him for always putting on a hell of a show. SEE YOU IN AZ!
Do you have a favorite genre or are you equal opportunity?
Definitely not equal, I respect everyone's choice in music but I'm all about the house, deep house and techno .
What is your favorite thing about Rave Culture?
The people who are there for the right reasons! I love networking and interacting with new faces, you can seen the genuity (definitely not in everyone ), but when the vibes are right , ITS RIGHT!
What is your favorite rave-wear brand
Obsessed with Dolls Kill at the moment.
Of all the festivals you’ve attended, which is your favorite and why?
That's tough. I think Factory 93 and CRSSD FEST have been winning for me. We love the house and techno!
Since you started what changes have you noticed in rave culture?
Oh gosh, the amount of people that attend. When I first started raving, it wasn't over crowded and I would get made fun of for going to these events. Now I catch those people at events! Haha . Also, the morale of the attendees. Too many people passing out , getting fucked up. It's like, come on , get your shit together . Totems are not my favorite thing either
What is your go to pre-rave meal?
I always make sure I have a good breakfast, maybe some pancakes, omelette with avocado.
What is your rave recovery ritual?
I ALWAYS crave a smoothie. Sleep is essential, need to rest all day. I keep pedialyte by my bed as well haha
Would you rather rave solo or with a group?
I like my groups small because less people you have to worry about. I love my friends though because we can all separate and nobody gets mad. We just see each other at the end of the night
Sneakers of Platforms?
Ya girl loves platformz
Camping or Hotels?
Ah, both are cool but I'm a diva , I need AC , hot water and a big mirror !
Shuttles or Uber?
Uber or Lyft
GA or VIP?
I usually do GA, but I've been working festivals a little more than attending (In VIP) and I'm starting to love it!
fruity gum or minty gum
Minty.
What is the most bizarre place you’ve found glitter the day after a rave?
Oh gosh, it's just everywhere
What is the next event you are most excited for?
Origins in AZ! I love attending events that are out of state or far from home
What is the one event you would never want to go to?
Anything with dub step or drum and bass. Sorryy just not a fan.
What would be the single most important piece of advice you would want to give to a new raver?
Never be afraid to leave your group , everyone has a different taste in music and for me, if i want to see an artist, I'll leave! Fuck it. Another thing is stay safe, stay hydrated and don't be afraid to ask for help if you're in trouble . There are some good people out there who are willing to lend a helping hand !
